Readers and roles

Readers are devices that can remotely retrieve information stored on RFID tags. Some readers are trusted by the user, others are not. The user is allowed to specify a set of roles and assign one or more roles to a reader, specifying this way its access restrictions to the tags he is protecting.
The functionality to be found under the Readers item of the Main Menu involves readers and roles list management, key management for readers (under development) and assignment of readers to roles and vice versa.

Similar to the tags section, this part of the application can be operated mostly by using the 5-way navigation key of the device. Assigning readers to roles and roles to readers is very easy and the user is always aware of what kind of operation he is about to perform, even though the lists on the screen may look similar from time to time.

A more detailed description of the readers/roles functionality, the rationale behind this implementation, as well as screenshots and code samples of the application, can be found in chapter 7 of this [masters thesis].
